The Lethaia Foundation is a Scandinavian non-profit organization that supports scientific research in palaeontology and stratigraphy, mainly through the publication of the monograph series Fossils and Strata and the journal Lethaia.
Lethaia goes Diamond Open Access!

Passing the one-year mark of our leap into the Open Access realm together with Scandinavian University Press (Universitetsforlaget), the Lethaia Foundation has critically assessed the outcome. This has reaffirmed our belief in a future with Open Access publications that are available to everyone without cost. As a non-profit organization that is fully committed to science outreach, we argue that the philosophy of free Open Access should also include authors. Consequently, and effective immediately, the Lethaia Foundation has decided that papers in our peer-reviewed journal Lethaia will be published without any mandatory cost for the authors. This means that Lethaia is now Diamond Open Access!
With this change in publication policy, we wish to emphasize that there are indeed significant expenses related with maintaining a competitive, high-quality scientific outlet such as Lethaia. Thus, the Lethaia Foundation encourages able authors to contribute toward publication costs and we humbly extend this plea to all interested persons and organizations – voluntary financial contributions are greatly appreciated as these actively support open science and will help to keep our publication series going ahead. We are excited to take this next step into the future together with our authors and readers, please help spread the word.
